Individual counseling is a place where you can come in and shed what life has placed upon your shoulders. Together, we examine it with the goal of feeling a bit lighter each week. It is a space to gain an understanding of the symptoms that have lead you here in the first place. We can learn where they are are stemming from and how they are impacting you now. With this information we can make adjustments that will lead to lasting, lifelong changes.
Creating these lasting changes requires looking at our whole self, the parts of our life we like and the parts we don’t and accepting them with compassion. This may sound scary, acknowledging these “bad” parts,but it is ignoring these less-than desirable parts of our lives that leads to feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or directionless. By working together we can focus on balancing the areas of your life that have been affected by life transitions, hurtful relationships, and traumas.
Counseling is about creating a space in which you feel empowered and safe enough to examine aspects of your life and ask uncomfortable questions. It is through the act of asking these questions that we are able to begin to develop a self identity that is powerful enough to manifest the balance you desire in your life.
